Have you ever wanted to read and study the Buddha’s discourses (suttas) but weren’t sure where to begin? Have you tried but found the discourses difficult to understand? Are you interested in being instructed, inspired, and touched by the Buddha’s wisdom, humor, and stories of his own path to Awakening?
In this sutta study course we will be reading the anthology In the Buddha’s Words. This book, compiled by Bhikkhu Bodhi the great contemporary translator of many of the Pali discourses, contains key suttas grouped around major themes as well as helpful introductory essays by Bhikkhu Bodhi.
The course will meet once a month, beginning on Monday Oct. 23 at 7:15 p.m. at Show Me Dharma. We will read together selections from each month’s assigned reading and discuss what we’ve read in terms of its meaning to our lives and practices. Offered on a dana basis, but registration is required.
