About Venerable U Sobhita:
Venerable U Sobhita was ordained as a novice monk in the Theravada Buddhist tradition at age nine. He received full ordination as a monk in 1970. He has practiced meditation under the guidance of Mahasi Sayadaw. For fourteen years, he studied the Pali scriptures under Sayadaw U Tajavanta, and other Sayadaws Mahamyaing Monastery and Mahagandhayon Monastery.
He has taught meditation in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, England, USA, South Africa, France, Australia, Taiwan and New Zealand. Now he teaches meditation for both local and foreign meditators at Chanmyay Yeikhta Meditation Center, Yangon, Myanmar.
Sayadaw U Sobhita is highly respected by monks, novices and lay people for his calm and peaceful demeanor. With patience, compassion and loving kindness and according to the circumstances he gives Dhamma talks, guidance, and meditation instructions to the devotees both within Myanmar and abroad.
