Thursday Evening Group 7:00 pm-8:30 pm, with Terry Furstenau starts January 22
Cost: Committed Practice Groups are offered on a dana (voluntary donation) basis.
Requirements: The committed practice groups require several months of regular, preferably daily meditation practice, and a working knowledge of Buddhist concepts. It also implies the intention to practice daily, do the homework, and share your practice in class to the extent that you feel comfortable.
For the Thursday Evening Group: Please contact Terry Furstenau at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a phone interview.
For both classes, if you are a current member of the class and plan on attending, there is no need to do anything. If you would like to drop out for awhile please let us know. The books are being ordered and are available for a small donation.
Held in a climate of loving-kindness and safety, Committed Practice groups
are designed to help us deepen our practice of meditation and learn to take the
benefits of the practice off the cushion into every part of our human lives.
SIX-WEEK INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION CLASS
BEGINNING WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4
Led by Terry Furstenau, Show Me Dharma Teachers Council
Dates and Time: Wednesday Evenings 6:30 pm-8:00 pm, February 4 to February 11, 2015 Location: Show Me Dharma Center Cost: Offered on a dana (donation) basis
SMD will be offering an Introduction to Meditation class on Wednesday nights beginning
February 4. The class meets from 6:30 to 8 pm for 6 weeks. Whether you are beginning meditation practice, wanting to increase your commitment to your meditation practice, find a community of support, or clarify your understanding, this 6-week series may be for you.
We will be exploring meditation on the cushion as well as in daily life. We will work to strengthen our ability to notice and short circuit painful habitual patterns, even as we develop acceptance for the difficult aspects of our personality. Our focus will continue to remain on how we experience this mystery we call ‘life’ and we’ll include plenty of time for questions and sharing.
Each class will consist of a talk, meditation practice, and group discussion. This class is appropriate for new sitters as well as those that would like to re-establish their practice. Bring friends or relatives that have an interest. The class is offered on a dana basis.

CHANTING INTO MEDITATION
led by Melinda Staley
NEXT MEETING IS SATURDAY JANUARY 3
Date and Time: Held the first Saturday of the Month, 7:00-8:15 pm
Location: Show Me Dharma
Chanting Into Meditation is based on the yogic practice of raising energy and quickly stopping. The mantras chanted carry a vibration that shifts the consciousness into a broader perspective, as well as releasing the places of holding around the heart. We chant for an extended period, then stop to experience the energy in stillness. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this shared experience and this community of committed practitioners.
“Chanting is a way of getting in touch with yourself. It’s an opening of the heart and letting go of the mind and thoughts. It deepens the channel of grace, and it’s a way of being present in the moment.” -Krishna Das
